Guilty Made Free

by Pastor Robert Maxie Sr

3 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2 And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel. 4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.” Zec 3:1–4

In Zechariah 3:1, the high priest Joshua stands before the Angel of the Lord and on side of him is Satan bringing accusations against him. It amazes me how many times I hear God tell us that we are forgiven of our past sins. Yet still, I doubt that forgiveness, how could a Holy God use me when I have done so much wrong in my life? The enemy would have me believe that grace was never meant for me. In doubting that grace and forgiveness we put our savior back on the cross. Like Joshua we are acquitted, not because the accusation of Satan was false, but out of the love of God and the sacrifice that he made for you and me, we are saved, redeemed, cleansed and made free! We are given new robes, clean and white, a representation of the new life we have under the blood. So I walk in that forgiveness and the Lord rebukes the enemy when he brings up my past to hinder my worship and my walk with God. Thank you, God for the blood of Christ that has freed me from the sins of my past, remove any shame or doubt that the enemy could use to hold me as a slave again. In Jesus Name Amen.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
